This lake is a watersupply dam that is stocked with native species bass, yellowbelly, silver perch and Mary River cod plus natually occuring species eel tailed catfish and introduced noxious fish tilapia and redclaw crayfish
The redclaw population has exploded since a large rise in the dam level after several years of drought.
Several months ago we had a major flood event that saw a huge ammount of fish go over the dam wall and the native fish that have remained have shut down.
I have been concentrating on the redclaw and catching the tilapia while I wait a couple of hours for the redclaw to enter the pots.
